Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials
Brief
Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is one of the most prestigious equestrian events in the UK, offering four days of exhilarating competition set against the breathtaking backdrop of Blenheim Palace – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Visitors experience world-class eventing, as well as the elegance of Dressage, the thrill of Cross Country, and the precision of Showjumping, all within the grandeur of this iconic Oxfordshire estate. More than a sporting spectacle, the event combines heritage, skill, and atmosphere, creating an unforgettable celebration of equestrian excellence.
As Event Partner for the horse trials, Stable Events, appointed REM Events to restructure and deliver this prestigious equestrian event within the Stable Events portfolio. The project required a balance between elite sport delivery, large-scale public attendance, and heritage site protection.

Solution
A new plan
To deliver a seamless and resilient event, we began with a full rewrite of the Event Management Plan and introduced a new tiered structure covering Event Overview, Site & Infrastructure, Operations, and Content. This provided clarity and improved coordination across all aspects of delivery.
Collaboration with stakeholders
We worked closely with Blenheim Palace Estates, BEDE Events, and the local Safety Advisory Group to ensure robust multi-agency planning and compliance.
On-site management
Our team managed critical operations on site, including arena infrastructure, traffic flow, and emergency response, ensuring safety and efficiency throughout.
Enhance the visitor experience
To further enhance the visitor experience, we introduced improved crowd flow design and implemented wet-weather resilience planning, mitigating risk and maintaining operational continuity under challenging conditions.

Outcome
Our new plan for the Blenheim International Horse Trials was very effective. The outcome was a success due to streamlined operations, improved traffic and crowd flow design and better co-operation between key stakeholders. The changes introduced by REM Events ushered in a clearer structure for future planning and regulatory compliance. All these improvements played an instrumental in futureproofing the horse trials, further cementing its position as one of the most prestigious equestrian events in the UK.
